An Evening of Terror at the Grand Guignol

Dennis Maganza is a professor of theatre, with more than 35 years of experience as a teacher, director, actor and playwright.  He has received the Award for Directing Excellence from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival for his production of TurandotHis published adaptation of The History of Tom Jones has been performed nationally and internationally.














He has presented numerous lectures and workshops and has served as an advisor to both artists and institutions, including Kinoshita Circus in Japan.  Most recently, classes, productions and workshops have been presented for the 2012 Thespian Festival, the University of Texas (Dallas), San Antonio College, Richland College, and the Texas Educational Theatre Association.  Also among his credits is performing as a clinician and adjudicator for the Texas UIL One-Act Play Festival.






                                                     






On stage, in the classroom and in workshops, his objective is to integrate the elements of artistic expression, by synthesizing internal process and external technique.  His approach includes extensive research into history and text, continuous effort to expand the physical/vocal instrument, and the ongoing development of the creative imagination.

Dennis Maganza is the Founding Director of extravamaganza.com, a creative services company based in Dallas.


He served as Professor of Theatre and Director of Actor Training at Texas State University from 1977 - 2000.  He has also taught at the University of Minnesota and at Mesa State College in Colorado.


Dennis Maganza earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in Theatre Arts-Acting from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.  He graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. in Theatre from St. Louis University.
